Welcome to the Experts Exchange community!

At Experts Exchange, we value the culture of mutual respect within our community. In this article we will introduce you to who we are, our core beliefs, and the guidelines that define our community.

Who We Are

EE is a collaborative community of technology professionals from around the world.

What We Believe

We believe that when we work together to learn and grow in technology, we can have a positive impact in the most influential industry in the world.

What We Do

We connect online and in person to help each other grow in technology through collaboration, problem solving, and mentorship.

Who We're Not

Many of our members found us while trying to find an answer to a question, and came across a similar question and solution by EE members. We love it when that happens! The EE community is full of valuable conversations between members that result in a solution to a problem. However, that does lead some people to incorrectly believe that the EE community is a service desk. Here's a short list of who we are not:

  • We are not a help desk with paid consultants or technicians who answer questions around the clock.
  • We are not a paid solutions provider.

Community Guidelines

This is an abbreviated version of our guidelines which reflects our Code of Conduct.

Be Professional

Do: Interact with members professionally and respectfully. Note: Because we are a global community, some language barriers do exist, when you come across something that doesn't make sense - please give each other the benefit of the doubt.

Don't: Be disrespectful, unprofessional, or rude.

Be Collaborative

Do: Seek to learn and grow with other members through conversations and content. Work together.

Don't: Expect that other EE members (even experts) are going to complete work for you as a help desk tech might.

Be Inclusive

Do: Treat every member as you would a colleague, peer, or friend.

Don't: Treat other members as clients or service providers.

Be Trustworthy

Do: Share your honest opinions, insights, and advice based on your personal experience.

Don't: Offer advice that you wouldn't take yourself or that you have no knowledge about.

Be Friends

Do: Share your knowledge and experience. Form connections, friendships and working relationships with other members.

Don't: Solicit or promote your own personal services, or company.

If you would like to read the long version, check out our Terms of Use.

Who Can Contribute or Create

Everyone.

Experts Exchange is a community built on shared knowledge and collaboration. We grow and learn from each other. Our combined experience gives all of us access to multiple generations of industry wisdom.

Our strength as a community is our ability to work together to solve problems, learn, and grow in our careers. Every single member of this community has knowledge and experiences worth sharing. I’m willing to bet you’ve got an insightful story to tell. A fresh take on an old problem that no one else has thought of. Or experience with a new technology which is unique.
